Great video. Pretty wild seeing that kid play that bad-ass twin neck guitar. Smile

Young Larry seems to have restless legs syndrome. IIRC the one Collins Kids single I have is a Columbia 33.

For about a year or so (1960-'61) Columbia and RCA Victor issued 33⅓ rpm singles parallel with their 'regular' 45 rpm singles ... here's a link to a Columbia advert in Billboard announcing their series.

I checked; the one I have is not by the Collins Kids, but by Larry Collins. The 'regular' 45 single is Columbia 4-42131.

In our area, they don't really use accordians for polka.

I'm okay with that.

as far as i'm concerned Clifton Chenier can play anything he wants on his accordion. what a talent, kinda reminds me of Jerry Lee Lewis, everything either of them do immediately becomes their own. here's my fav by Clifton Chenier http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FfsH5tTgmjU

I'm half-Polish, so as much of a Rock fan as I am, I can't resist having a couple Polka records in the collection...it's like a family trait or something. One time I was out rummaging and by 1:30 PM or so I was starting to wind my way home. I spotted a sign for an estate sale and thought "Okay, they'll probably have some cheap household stuff to look at - guess I'll go check them out". So I hiked up the driveway to the garage and...they had RECORDS! Goody! Best of all, they had 45's, which are RARELY seen at garage sales / estate sales anymore, especially that late in the day (in my area, we have like 20 collectors for every potential source). I browse through the 45's and I'm finding Louie Bashell, Louie Bashell, Louie Bashell...I remark to one of the women working there "Wow, whoever had these was quite the Louie Bashell fan!" She said "No, this IS Louie Bashell's estate - he used to live here!" I bought myself a set of four promo 45's on RCA (there were multiples of some titles) as well as one of his "Living Stereo" LPs. I thought the family would appreciate that.

No, they turn up every once in a while at flea markets, especially the one which emphasizes antiques and collectables, but not so much at estate sales and rummages. I know there's at least one local guy who goes to sales looking for nothing BUT musical instruments - he'd come around to our annual garage sale when we had them and he's turned up at other sales I've been to.
