Several years ago I came across a nice copy of "A Prisoner's Prayer" / "I Know" by The Prisonaires (Sun 191; 78 rpm) for $1. It's the only Sun 78 I have.

the prisonaires records are not rare, most of them are 78s, notice the article says "walking in the rain" sold a quarter million. the problem is finding them in new condition, they got played to death and tossed around.

Hi,

Anyone interested in the Prisonaires, should read the book, "JUST WALKIN' IN THE RAIN",by Jay Warner!

annaloog,

I'm amazed that you only own one Sun 78, considering your location and all.

Yes...

And I'm " amazed " that the only BULLET-label ( ORIGINAL ) 78's I've ever found were:

2 x Tennessee ( Nashville and Hendersonville )

1 x Arkansas ( West Memphis )

2 x Mississippi ( Biloxi-Gulfport )

2 x Texas ( A pawn shop in Euless, near Fort Worth )

and MOST here in California!... x 12! ( various ) in Los Angeles

That's right, about as far away as Jim Bulliet ( BULLET ) would have ever had guessed!
( due to the pressing- distribution set-up he had out here! )

SO.... You may be " looking " in Atlanta for NRC ( and associated product ) BUT, I can ASSURE you my friend, that I can " find " and buy more NRC-label ( ORIGINAL) Records out here than an Atlanta " native "

You even may be looking in Houston for that elusive " Macy's " releases, but guess what ?
MORE records from the label were pressed out here ( Pasadena ) than ever were in Houston, the old 4-STAR ( produced and pressed ) Records are far more to be found in shops out here than were ever to be sold in Texas, Louisiana, Kentucky, Virginia, Louisiana, or Bum-Fek Egypt than what might be " available " in your " hood "

So that's a leading question, asking why annaloog couldn't ( didn't ) " score " more " Prisonaires " ( or any other ) SUN 78 rpm recordings.

I think $ 1 is a good price to pay for any SUN 78 rpm disc.

Let's see if " Spider and The Crabs " recordings are easier to get in O.K.C. than I can get them out here.

NO question is ever deemed as stupid, but........

H
