Watching this video gave me a clear perspective on just how big newly hatched eaglets are. Wow! When the researcher picks one up to weigh it:

I saw what was on the menu today at the Berry College eagle nest...a huge fish and a big crab.

Holy cow! Shocked

Our national bird has quite the buffet going on at the nest! I know some of it is fish and coot, maybe all? See what I mean about their food storage?

They are saying on the Facebook page that the other egg may not hatch, for some reason. Maybe it's not fertile, or could be another reason. They are saying that the time for it to hatch is 5 days past due date, and "It is not unusual for an egg to fail to hatch--it's very common throughout the bird population."

Somebody on Facebook was saying there is a duck in there.

This beautiful nest includes 2 Hummingbird eggs with an estimated hatch date of March 14th. Because the camera setup depends on natural lighting you have to watch it when the sun is out. Otherwise you will just see a black screen. This is located in Southern California. Sometimes you will see the mother hummer fly away to get food. The male has no part in the nesting process.

Here is another Hummingbird Cam (includes audio). Hatch watch begins March 2nd.:

One of those hummingbirds hatched this morning right before dawn. So cute and tiny.

And have you looked at the baby eagle lately?!? He's getting so big, and changing colors. Looks like he's going into that "ugly duckling" stage, but still very cute. He looks very healthy and fat. Very Happy

I'm calling the first picture, "Alone with my YUMMY squirrel".

Yes, I know I am obsessed about all this bird nest action. You don't have to tell me.

Have any of you guys looked at The RCG's Favorite Eagle "Baby" lately? He's grown up a bit.

You betcha, Buddy. Amazing how fast they grow. I got a pic of him stretching his wings.

He sure is a lot different looking than the last pic I got of him with his squirrel.

This video I made shows the various growth stages of the Berry College eaglet to the date of April 8, 2014. All of the pictures in the video are from screenshots that I took. I have not posted some of the pictures that are in the video here on the RCG.

Berry college has a Bluebird Cam going now as well. not as majestic as the eagles, perhaps, but still pretty cool. there were four eggs, but one has hatched recently.
