I had the great pleasure of having Jerry (wurlitzer1450) visit this past weekend. Jerry has a fellow down in New Mexico who likes to buy cheap bulk lots of 45s regardless of artist/title. So we sorted through about 6,000 45s out in my shop. Jerry is an expert in 45s, particularly pre Beatles era Rock and RAB. He helped pull out the good rockers to save while we separated the chaff from the wheat. The discs on the table are the culls while the keepers are those on the floor behind us. Jerry bought my culls at a fair price and will sell them for a profit to his guy back in New Mexico. A win/win scenario for all concerned.

Jerry had his little buddy Hans along for the road trip. My three Mini Aussies accepted Hans into their dog yard and they all got along splendidly. That's Hans and my little girl Trixie in the photo below.

Many of you know long time member Barrie (weletthegoldfishgo). He's been inactive from this forum for quite a while. Last Thursday, he called me, expressing interest in selling his entire record collection. I had to decline, due to having acquired about 13,000 records last year and being a bit 'overloaded' with records at present. By chance, Jerry called one hour later, announcing that he was in Powell, about ten minutes from my house. When Jerry arrived, we called Barrie and arranged to visit the following day. Jerry looked over Barrie's very nice collection of 4,500 LPs and after some brief and amiable dickering, arrived at a purchase price for the entire lot. Here's some photos of "Cactus", "Wurlitzer" and "Goldfish." It took about three hours to carry the LPs out of Barrie's basement 'Man Cave' and load them into Jerry's Jeep & a Uhaul trailer. Hard work but a fun time. Smile

Now we're back up in Powell, with Jerry's Jeep and Uhaul, backed into my shop. Jerry's plan is to resell the records at his antique mall consignment booth and he's decided to sort the Classical & Opera LPs, pulling the relatively few that have reasonable resale value. As many of you know, most Classical LPs have little value beyond thrift shop prices. A huge lot of culled Classical will be donated to the Rock Springs, Wyoming Goodwill store as Jerry passes through on his way back to near the little town of Nervous, New Mexico.

My little girl Trixie is a real record hound. When she gets a little bigger she'll accompany me to yard sales, to sniff out the vinyl. The trailer and Jeep were loaded up and ready for the trip South. What a fun weekend, with three record collecting fanatics engaged in buy/sell/swap while sharing tales of crate-digging expeditions and killer scores.

meanwhile near the little town of nervous, new mexico i have arrived back home and am dealing with the 18 inch tall grass and the broken a/c. the jeep grand cherokee overland pulled the overloaded trailer over south pass at 65 and would have done 75 if i hadn't seen that hi way patrolman. i'd like to thank you again dave for your hospitality and your assistance in buying barries collection and the 45s i got from you. i also made a deal for another small [5,000+] collection on this trip which i will go back to colorado and pick up. hans and i had a great time and we miss your little trixie very much. she really took a liking to me and hans. she is a very special little girl. we had many very good meals, several great eating establishments in powell.
